So I've finished another short novella, this one called "In the Fury with the Footman". It's available on Amazon and Smashwords.
Great Britain, 1905. King Edward is on the throne, and the world is
knowing a time of peace and progress unlike ever before. It is a time of
hope and optimism, where society is changing for the better, and the
future looks bright. History will come to call this time as La Belle
Époque, the Beautiful Time.
In Northumberland, there lies
Brackenridge Park, the county seat of the Earl of Astonbury. Though on
the surface, it seems like any other genteel country manor, lust and
passion simmer below the shiny silver surface, as the men and women who
live and work there celebrate the beauty of life in a decidedly carnal
fashion.
Lady Isobel, youngest daughter of the Earl of Astonbury,
is utterly bored with her life at Brackenridge Park. Unmarried, and
unwilling to settle for a life without passion, she is forever
frustrated at the seeming emptiness of her world. The handsome new
footman might prove a distraction, but he's not so easily led.
Stephen,
the newest Brackenridge Park footman, has rebuffed the earl's
daughter's attempts at flirtation. He's long sworn never to be a rich
woman's plaything ever again. The lovely little minx will just have to
find someone else to keep her amused.
When Stephen and Isobel are
stranded in a fierce storm, the barriers between mistress and servant
begin to break down. Alone, isolated from the strictures of the society
in which they live, Stephen and Isobel are free to cast off their
inhibitions and be who they truly want to be. Need takes hold, and in
the fury of the storm, they find incredible passion in one another's
arms. But what will happen when the light of day breaks and the real
world makes itself known again?
